What the site is, and is not

The site explains German residential tenancy law, the rent indexes of the large cities and the states' tenant-protection ordinances, in German and English, and offers calculators that apply these rules. It is independent and not connected to any city, state government, tenant or landlord association, property manager, law firm or legal-tech company. Results are general calculations, not legal advice on an individual case and not a review of any lease or letter. Only court decisions and the legal texts in force are binding. See the method page.

Liability for content and links

We check the legal values whenever the rules change and run automated tests before each release, but cannot guarantee the absence of errors. Operators of linked external sites are responsible for their content; links to legal texts lead to official federal and state services. Please report errors through the contact page.
